Amrita GraceOnce I learned about Facebook’s business model, which is based in greed, manipulation, selling our data to the highest bidder, and a complete lack of ethics, I realized that I have to leave. I cannot in my integrity as a sacred feminine leader stay in support of such ugly patriarchal energies. It’s not just about me personally. It’s about the impact that Facebook is having on culture and society, shifting it toward angry polarization, sensationalized fake news, and conspiracy theories that lead the gullible down deep, dark holes of distraction, despair, and addiction.

If you want to learn more, watch “The Social Dilemma” and/or read “Ten Arguments for Deleting Your Social Media Accounts Now” by Jaron Lanier. The bigger truth is that Facebook is a reflection of who we are as a society right now. A microcosm of the macrocosm. Knowing what I know, I can no longer turn a blind eye to what’s happening behind the scenes as the strings are pulled this way and that by the puppet masters. Because we (the users) are the puppets. I prefer to do my shadow work in a safe space, thank you very much.

There have been many wonderful things about Facebook that I’ve enjoyed over the course of more than a decade. Connecting with people from all over the world, conversing with old friends, facilitating groups and pages that inspire and support women, celebrating birthdays daily and receiving so many lovely greetings on my own birthday (October 30), and enjoying beautiful graphics, artwork, and clever memes. It’s been a great place to showcase my business, The Sacred Feminine Mystery School. None of that is enough to justify continuing to support such a monstrous machine.

I left Instagram and WhatsApp and plan to leave FB sometime down the road. I’ll be remaining on Pinterest, LinkedIn, Holistic Therapies Directory, and Alignable.

Love & blessings, Amrita
